Margaret Nawade Revd Isaac Namango
Khasoko (Western Kenya) – St Mary’s Church (Sprotbrough) Link
Our link was set up in 1984 by the Rt Revd Isaac Namango, the then Bishop of Nambale, and the Revd Stuart Matthews, Rector of Sprotbrough.
The aims of the link are:
to increase understanding of each other’s churches and ways of life;
to enrich our spiritual lives by sharing experiences with Christians living
and working in a different cultural environment;
to support each other in prayer.

Several visits to Khasoko have been made by members of St Mary’s congregation, and Mrs. Margaret Nawade, our correspondent in Khasoko, has visited Sprotbrough.
St Mary's Church continues to support Khasoko, and especially the organisation set up there to help families helping AIDS orphans – SHACOBO (Serving Hands Community Based Organisation). Mrs Mary Parkin is St Mary's correspondent
updates will be posted on this page when they become available
With the financial help that St Mary's sent to SHACOBO - "Serving Hands Community Based Organisation" the committee bought uniforms and books for 12 AIDS orphans, whose foster parents could not afford them, and so were unable to go to school.
Another 8 children have since received them and those who had grown out of their uniforms new ones.
The committee have now started Income Generation Activities helping some of the foster mothers to start small businesses so they can generate income to buy food, which has shot up in price; Margaret Nawade is coordinating this.
As you will Know, some of the Aid agencies are already doing this kind of work, so it is good to hear that SHACOBO is following suit.
