Chernobyl Children's Life Line
It is more than twenty years since the Chernobyl Nuclear disaster and yet children are still being born with tumours, eyesight problems and loss of limbs. The families are extremely poor and many earn less than £50 per month. There are many repercussions from the disaster and the food they eat may still be contaminated and the childrens' health suffers. Kathleen arranges a holiday for these children, and they stay with a host family in Doncaster for one month. They provide trips to the seaside, adventure parks, local attractions and much more. They visit the dentist and optician. They are also provided with clothing, new shoes etc. The children arrive with a small carrier bag of belongings and go home with a suitcase!! After only one month in England the childrens' health had improved and it was lovely to see their happy smiling faces.
