HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone

Our first meeting of the new year was well attended, and we had a very interesting talk on the subject of Tools for Self Reliance by Terry Roelich. This is a national charity who send renovated tools over to Africa. The people there are then able to make furniture etc, this is then sold enabling them to become more self sufficient. Terry spoke about how local volunteers set up a workshop, appealed for old and broken tools, combined knowledge, repaired, polished and sharpened them to look as new. They are sent down to Southampton before being shipped over to Africa.
There are many such groups spread around the country and their work really makes a difference.
We are hosting a coffee morning on the 12th February from 10-12noon. There will be various stalls and all money raised will be for AFIA, a Mothers' Union project  providing  holidays  for families in desperate need of a break.
See you there.
