June

Summer seems to have arrived at last and at our June meeting we all enjoyed a delicious cream tea. Our speaker for the evening was Anne Swann who gave a very interesting talk about the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The service they give to the community is invaluable and has saved the lives of many people injured in road traffic accidents, those injured whilst climbing or walking in the Dales and Derbyshire peaks and people taken ill in inaccessible places. The helicopter can reach a casualty in ten to fifteen minutes with two paramedics on board, the patient is given urgent medical attention and taken to the nearest hospital . The Yorkshire Air Ambulance relies entirely on individual gifts, fund raising and donations from businesses. We are very fortunate in Yorkshire to have two helicopters, one based at Sheffield business park and the second based at Leeds/Bradford airport. We thank God for their dedication and pray that the may continue to receive the money needed to continue this valuable service
