October 2011
MU Does it make a
difference?
was
the title of our
October meeting.
Pat Simpson
spoke about the
work of the
Mother's Union
here and
overseas.
Did you know
over 70,000
thousand
people have
learnt to read,
write and do
simple maths
using our
literacy and
development
programme in
Africa. What a
difference it
has made to
their lives.
Here in the
UK we provide
holidays for
those who are
in need. We have
set up the
Bye Buy
Childhood
Campaign to
protect our
children. We run
crèches locally
and in our
prisons. We knit
for CART and for
premature babies
and the list
goes on and on.
So does the MU make a difference? YES, YES, YES
Everyone welcome
Helen Harwood
Branch Leader
