Friday 20th November 2009 at St Mary’s Church Hall, Sprotbrough, what a marvellous evening !

With Jonathan Storer and Andrew Shaw, from The Yorkshire Wine company
A very informative evening. A range of 10 wines from around the world to taste. White, rose', red wines and port from New Zealand, Italy, Germany, France, South Africa, Spain, Chile, Australia and Portugal. We were told what look for in a wine, appearance, nose, palate, finish and how to tell how alcoholic it might be.
The evening was very informative and relaxed, becoming more so as we tasted our way through the selection on offer!

Two paintings of Sprotbrough by local artists, Sheila Bury and Terry Chipp, donated to raise funds for the Roof Appeal, were auctioned by David Mears.
The Grand Draw! Local MP, Caroline Flint joined the eager gathering drawing tickets for the 36 prizes, all kindly donated.
The big winner, with the £1000 first prize was Sprotbrough’s Rector, Rev. John Richards. He spoke to us this morning and told us; ”It still hasn’t sunk in yet, we never win anything. I’m absolutely amazed and overwhelmed!”
