              St Mary's Church, Sprotbrough

The parish church, dating from 1176, stands at the centre of the old residential village of Sprotbrough, serving a growing community of 2500 homes, three schools and one home for the elderly.

We are lively and active mainstream Anglicans. In 2005 St Edmund's became our daughter church. Details of usual services at St Mary's  can be found in the service times section. We also have an ecumenical covenant relationship with Sprotbrough Park Methodist Church.

The village, three miles from Doncaster, stands above the Don Gorge (SSSI), with excellent rail and road links to places of interest and countryside of great beauty.

Parish Prayer

Heavenly Father, we pray for the people of this church and parish.
Make us wise to understand your ways and faithful to walk in your paths.
May Christ shine his light in our hearts, and the Holy Spirit bear fruit in our lives.
Fashion us into a fellowship of love, that we may serve and witness to the glory of your Kingdom;
in Jesus’ name.

Amen.

Our link was set up in 1984 by the Rt Revd Isaac Namango, the then Bishop of Nambale, and the Revd Stuart Matthews, Rector of Sprotbrough.

The aims of the link are:

 to increase understanding of each other’s churches and ways of life;

to enrich our spiritual lives by sharing experiences with Christians living

and working in a different cultural environment;

to support each other in prayer.
