December t-Time

Getting ready

The theme for Decembers t-Time was 'Getting ready' and we reminded ourselves that Christmas was about getting ready for Jesus and how we can do this. We looked at the advent wreath and about how it helps us count down to Christmas (what does Advent mean) and the children lit the candles to remind us that this was special time with God.

There were plenty of  activities and puzzles - word searches, crosswords etc; we made Christmas decorations with prayers written on the back for people, and hung them on our Christmas prayer tree; making presents for Jesus - making a Christmas box and writing inside what we would give Jesus for Christmas (the presents included a cot, blankets, a teddy bear, gold, frankincense and Myrrh, a foreign holiday, and finally peas and carrots!!), making Christmas cards; and saying sorry to God was done by writing what we wanted to say sorry for on the back of some wrapping paper and then scrunching it up and throwing it in a bin. There were also books with the Christmas story in to read and a poster to write on how we could make ourselves ready for Jesus coming at Christmas.

The prayer tree, some of the boxes and the poster are in the St Thomas chapel. We finished t-Time by offering up the bin with all our sorrys to God in it and then talking about what present we gave to Jesus, we then said some prayers in front of the crib.

Everyone had a great time and we even had Christmas crackers, mince pies and special biscuits.
